Would You Die for God?
Here is why I ask that question. Jesus said:
Matthew 16:25. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Matthew 10:39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Human beings have an innate fear of death. This is because they lack understanding of what really happens at death. All that men see when men dies is a body that becomes cold, still, and then rots. That is not a pretty picture. No one wants to just disappear into nothing and that is the way death seems to us. When men die families are left behind and they suffer emotional pain and sometimes financial hardship. So dying is not something most humans look forward to because of the great unknown. The spirit has toyed on man's ignorance in a number of ways.
Ezekiel 37:1. The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, 2. And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. 3. And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? and I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest. 4. Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. 5. Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: 6. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
In spite of these words, men are not comforted about the prospect of dying. There have been biblical accounts of few men dying and then brought back to life. Jesus is the famous Son of man and Son of God who was crucified and raised to life three days later. His disciples witnessed his revival and ascension. But Jesus was special. He was God's Atonement Lamb and raising him from the dead was part of God's Plan. As for the rest of humanity, we cling to life and we are loath to give it up. Few have the faith of Jesus who gave his life for all men in all generations that they all might be saved. He said:
John 15:12. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Romans 5:6. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
There are cases where men have risked their lives to save an unknown person in imminent danger. Some have entered burning homes to save someone inside. Some have pushed a potential victim to safety from train incidents and traffic problems. Men have dived into turbulent waters to save those who are drowning. These heroes act with spontaneity without forethought. They just do it!
Biblical sacrifices are also on record. Daniel put his life on the line when he refused to bow down to false gods. He was cast into a lion's den and lived. Three Hebrew boys were willing to suffer death in a fiery furnace for their faith. They also were not hurt. There are many cases where others were martyred for their faith. Christians were burned at the stake fed to wild beasts and were ripped apart by gladiators because they held on to their faith. These heroes died for God!
I have asked the question, what would you do for your faith and for God. Would you give your life for God if you are asked to? I can tell you now most men are unwilling to die for God, faith, or anyone else. Because God knows that, He does not ask! He takes men at will without asking. YOU WILL DIE FOR GOD … whether you want to or not and whether you are willing or unwilling.
All men are born to die. Death is a part of the life cycle. It frees the spirit from the clay cocoon or earthy house. This "circumcuision" is necessary because human flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom of Heaven. God then raises (redeems) human spirits drawing them to the Barn of Heaven, the true "promise land". Once there, the spirits of men are RE-MADE at the Heavenly Altar where they are enjoined in the New Covenant and become new "angels".
To do all this, the Creator does not ask for a man's permission. He simply calls each offspring by the name He gave us on the 4th Creation Day. Only that person will hear that name. He will then fly upward to join our Father above and his clay body will drop in place. Men then bury the body. This is the way Father has redeemed all previous generations of men. Therefore we will all die for God as all generations have always done.
Psalm 22:27. All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. 28. For the kingdom is the Lord's: and he is the governor among the nations. 29. All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul. 30. A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation. 31. They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.
Ecclesiastes 12:7. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Revelation 6:9. And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11. And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
Revelation 9:6. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
Hebrews 12:22. But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23. To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24. And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
Luke 15:20. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. 22. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: 23. And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
Ecclesiastes 4:2. Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive. 3. Yea, better is he than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.
